The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has issued its draft determination on regulated retail electricity prices that will apply in regional Queensland for the 2015-16 financial year.
The news is good for commercial and industrial customers that have not yet transitioned to a market-based unbundled contract. Based on the draft tariffs published, large low voltage connected customers can expect their network charges to reduce by 3-5%.
While these potential price reductions are welcome, customers in the eastern distribution zone who are still being supplied under a regulated tariff may be overpaying for energy. e4b provides free no-obligation assessments for regulated tariff customers to determine if savings can be made by moving to a market-based contract.
Also, transitional tariffs 41 (large) and 43 (large) will be removed as of 1 July 2015 as previously scheduled. Customers on these tariffs will need to select a new tariff.
Submissions on the draft determination close 27 February 2015. Submissions can be lodged here.
The final price determination is expected to be published in June 2015.
